Dark Theme Release

dark theme for WordPress

I will be evilly happy if you admit that you were fooled, but I'll be even happier if you say you've been waiting all along for the real deal. Tags are no longer going to be a part of WordPress 2.2, so I changed my mind and the theme is now available for download. Thank you for your patience. Now I give you Wolfgang Bartelme's "dark" theme.

The theme has been tested on WordPress 2.1.3 with Firefox and Safari, may play well with IE6/7 too. It validates as XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS 2.0, and supports the following plugins:

flickrRSS
Gravatar
Ultimate Tag Warrior
WP-PageNavi

Jeannette's right, there was a small problem with the server.

Make sure you re-download the theme, what you got might be broken!

It's not 100% true that a theme gets better or nicer when it goes widgetized. This depends on the layout of the theme. I personally don't think this theme is good to become widgets friendly. The layout is too unique and special.

First of all, I really love the themes here, credit to Bartelme but also to the person in charge of iLEMONed.

I want to put an image in my header instead of text, any ideas how I can achieve this?

I noticed there is a bug with the dark theme.

When I put the more tag ... I get a blank link

Weird ... when I edited the CSS, this problem is fixed.

But still I don't know how to add my own custom image in the header like your site ...

@Darren: Thank you. Look carefully into header.php and you'll know where to put the codes. As for the image itself, use your photoshop.

I'm having trouble getting a custom header to show up. I've uploaded an image with the name logo.gif without any results. anyone else having this problem? or is there another step i am missing?

Ah hah! got the answer by viewing the source code in firefox (differnt colored code) If you have uploaded a logo you must remove the ' !-- ' at the begining and the '--' at the end of the line of code, regarding the logo.gif, otherwise it will not work.

thank you so much for this awesome release. I am wondering why the gravaters are not working next to the comments in the post, see http://www.offersphoto.com/blog/?p=37#comment-9. Do you perhaps have any idea? I did not change anything in the comments.php, and the gravatars do work in the sidebar. Thank in advance!

Do you mean having your own gravatar? Then you need to go to http://www.gravatar.com to register.

I installed the suggested gravatar plugin and have not changed any of the files from your release. I still have a problem with gravatars showing up. In the side bar on the main page they are all the ? pictures, but on the actual post pages there is nothing there. Can any suggest a possible fix for this or what may be going wrong?

Hey, so I'd love to get ELA running on my blog like you have. You even included the nice CSS for it.

@Paul, make sure UTW (ultimate tag warrior) is enabled. You then have to set tags (different from categories) for each post you want to have tags.

this theme doesn't work well with Extended Live Archives.

In the By Date view, things kind of collapse together, but the By Category view works very well.

Could you shed a light upon this issue?

Has anyone looked at this theme in IE 6, not sure if its the same as IE 7, but a lot of hover, and styles aren't the same as in firefox.

I'm having a problem with tags i was hoping you could help out on.

I converted categories to Tags and when ever you click on a tag it only shows the latest 3 Posts with that tag and for some reason does not include a page navigation function to see older posts with the same tag.

I am not to good at code, so I was hoping you could tell em what i need to change so I can get tags to work properly.

hello. Thers is a little problem in using your theme.
In the archive page, using the Extended Live Archives plugin, a the texts, .....loading , appeared when i am clicking the bottom, is in the above of the Chronology, other than in the right of the the bottom like what show in your page.

I think there need a html code need to add somewhere , and i am wondering where it is.

I have been using Dark for a couple of weeks and like the look and feel. But my problem is quotes. For some reason posts get published with this html (Brackets removed so its visible to the user.

{p}“This is a quote”{/p}

Which was "This is a quote". The problem is when someone copies a code snippet from my site the 8221 quote is an extended character and not the actual ascii quote which I intended...this site appears not to change them...any thoughts

但是实在不是太懂程序，有好多问题。。。
My flickr部分每个图片后面会有一个小圆点，不知道怎么回事。。。

i also found a bug in functions.php.
The function recent_cmts doesn't check if gravatar installed but directly using it.So sidebar "Recent Comments" will show the gravatar even no gravatar plugin.

In the Dark Theme's sidebar.php, the php recent_cmts('10'); code seems to generate a table with embedded styling for the recent comment gravitars. I would REALLY like to be able to change those style settings. A few other people have inquired on this as well.

How can we edit those embedded styles???

Found bug in function.php (Gravatar), I am working on converting the theme to match by website (Orange Theme) and can't be able to show up Gravatar on the comments body. Working on looking for fixes. It looks like that some has problem on it, anyone found a solution yet? Anyway, I am just started converting....

@Goe: Gravatar will be sometimes down because of the instability of gravatar service. But I also think I can improve the codes in function.php

@氧气层: 默认随机显示10个连接, 显示结果每次刷新后都不一样. 如果你想显示全部, 修改bottom.php, 把第16行的"10"改为"-1"就行了.

Hi, first of all thanks for this great theme and second... I'm having issues with IE6, the default links which belongs (by default) to Blog roll and recent posts have a small glitch when you pass the mouse over, IE6 looks like it's trying to download the file icon_link.gif every time you move the mouse over those links... any ideas? It works for this blog but not from a fresh installation. Also I'd like to ask ilemoned why your template has different headers? like you include ela.css but on the one to download is not called Any comments would be great, thanks again!

Hello!
Thank you for this really great theme! I'm using it since you release it and it's in my Top3 WP themes for all times. Sadly, I have small problem and I hope you can help me. Nothing special, but I am not able to fix it.

In comments, if someone doesn't have gravatar, the default image is not shown. I've checked the code, but I can't understand what I am missing. I am using dark theme 1.01 and latest Gravatars 2 version.

LOVE dark theme!

One problem, sub pages are not shown in menu. Pages can be nested to belong to parent pages. Dark theme ignores these pages! and only top level pages are visible in top menu.

HOw can I change this?
